Most parents simply do not know that criminals can enter their homes online anytime, 24/7, and that the children they think are safe and secure under their roof are, in some aspects, even more vulnerable to sexual predation and other harm than anywhere else—all at the click of a mouse. There are very few barriers to keep kids out of trouble on the Internet. Therefore, in order to protect children from harm and discourage risky and unlawful online behaviors, we must teach them how to recognize dangers and threats on the Internet, and how to respond to them appropriately.

The i-PARENT Campaign trains parents from Newport News Public Schools to conduct Parent Nights and provides them with resources to educate and empower other parents to create a cyber-safe home.
i-SAFE recognizes that a digital divide exists between parents and their children when it comes to the use of technology. In most cases, kids know more about the Internet and new technology than their parents. That is why i-SAFE launched the i-PARENT Campaign - a movement of students, parents, educators and public officials - to inform parents about the dangers their kids face online and offer tips to help protect them.
